home about aims schools we’ve built 2007 & 2008 2009 & 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 fundraising impact news gallery contact building a future for these communities in cameroon our progress to date now funded … 289 classrooms at 93 schools! in 2007 we helped rebuild the primary school in ntseimbang. we thought our job was finished – we were wrong! in 2008 , we had raised enough funds to build five more schools at menjung, quebessi, bamali, achaillam and roh meluf. by 2009 , sufficient funds had come in to build another six schools, at njap, fungeh, mbande, njinikejem, kumbo and ndzevru – and we realised that we must be doing something right!! 2010 saw twelve schools being funded by our supporters, in the villages of ngali, mambain, bamessing, mbah, vekovi, bamali, nseh makop, nkartsen, dzeng (2) and bamdzeng (2). this was also the year we started to provide clean drinking water and improve health centres too – all with the aim of making education more accessible to healthier communities. in 2011 , eleven more school constructions went up at ber, buh, lassin, jakiri, ndengue, abang, muteff, mayo darle, goulfey and ndegvaya and tubah. we had spread our wings and were now building in the north west, adamawa, west and extreme north regions of cameroon. in 2012 , eight more schools were constructed in the villages of idenau, mbot, makanene, nseh (2), bangourain, njintou and koumaga. we were making our presence felt in the south west and centre regions too. 2013 saw twelve more schools under construction in koumenke, mfe, djafga, sangmalima, biakoa, ngouetou, ouro boubi, rifem, kishiy, kiyan, nkar and kale-kittiwum. we had extended our work to the north and the south regions for the first time. by 2014 new school buildings were constructed at ngokop, gbss makanene, gtc ntigi-bambili, gtc nkeung, gss mbve and, cns manjo. 2015 saw another fifteen schools built in five different regions – including our first ever projects in the east region. it was a bumper year! ps rifem, ips rifem, gbns ntoh mbiame, gtc mbiame, bss sabongari, ep waifi, ep de bagara, ep salle, ces mongonam, gtss maria sylvestra, gns nchemba 2, gss nchemba 2, ep ngoukong, gths bamendakwe and gss banshie all benefitted from new classroom blocks. we were also able to fund the construction of boreholes at six schools in the far north region so that children in this desert region could enjoy clean drinking water at their schools for the first time. 2016 was another great year, with nine school projects funded. gs keonom, cs boyui, cs st patrick, gs nketisoh, and gss ichim, ep mayel-ibbe, ces dama, ep zouaye and lycée de mogom. 2017 was our 10th anniversary and we managed to fund nine school projects that year. two in the south region, at gbps meyomessala and ep d’edjom; four in the nw region, gs kungoh, gths kedjom ketinguh, gtc jihibai, gtc mbokevu; ep bapes mondial and ep kalong in the centre region and a new science lab at gss sodiko in littoral region. click on the pictures below for a larger image. e.p. meyomessala ep d’edjom ep kalong cs boyui gss ichim inside gs nketisoh foundations – gtc mbokevu old kevu health centre gs keonom ep bapes mondial gtc jihibai djottin __________________________ all the schools we help reconstruct are provided with a new ventilated improved pit (vip) latrine and we have recently started to include handwashing facilities as well. we also try to provide clean drinking water at any of our schools that don’t already have this. many of these water supplies have benefitted whole communities and we have witnessed a great reduction in water-borne disease at all of the villages where we have worked. all of the schools we have helped over the years are running well. the majority have benefitted from increased enrolment and additional teachers employed. exam performance is improving exponentially and, for the first time in many of these villages, children are completing primary education and going on to secondary school. you can read more about all these school projects on our schools we’ve built pages and we are gradually posting pictures of all the schools, as they were before our intervention and after they were rebuilt, in our gallery . other projects we have funded dormitory for trainees dormitory accommodation in 2012 we able to fund the construction of a dormitory for disabled trainees who are currently learning trade skills at the shumas centre, to enable them to run small businesses and live independent and successful lives. many of their trainers, who are also disabled, live in the dormitory as well. nseh health centre health centres we have refurbished five rural health centres and equipped them with new ward beds, maternity beds and baby cots, all mattresses and bedding and some equipment. we have also been able to provide new medical equipment essential for daily care at another seven rural health centres, all of which has dramatically improved the basic healthcare and maternity provision for many very remote communities. newly constructed permanent bridge at roh kimbo river bridge river bridge more than 400 children used to use a broken wooden bridge to get to school every day. they had to dodge the motorbikes and trucks that also used it. it was extremely dangerous. during the rainy season the river swells and, in the past, many children have been swept away. the new bridge includes discreet walkways and handrails for pedestrians which provide a safe route to school for the children. it was opened in grand style in march 2015. clean drinking water for schoolchildren water supplies our aim is to provide clean drinking water at each school where we build classrooms. many children otherwise suffer from water-borne diseases such as malaria, cholera and typhoid because they collect drinking water from streams/waterholes which are contaminated by animals and harbour mosquitoes. we have also been able to fund the construction of a few larger water projects that benefit whole communities and that has led to improved health for all – and better attendance at schools. we are amazed and very proud indeed of what has been achieved in our first ten years – and we are very grateful to all our funders who continue to support us in this work and to those who have promised help in the future. we promise you that we will ensure that every penny you donate will go to help provide a brighter future for the children of cameroon. share this... facebook twitter google+ email linkedin pinterest print latest news & newsletters fundraising football thank you – positech!!
